Friday’s Game of the Night is in Tropicana Field in Tampa, Florida. With the Tampa Bay Rays and the Boston Red Sox facing each other six times in the next 12 games the Red Sox’s could use this to gain significant ground in the playoff race. Boston currently sits 5.5 games back of the New York Yankees and Rays in the AL East and the Wild Card. Two young guns are on the mound tonight, the Sox are going with lefty Jon Lester (13-8, 3.26 ERA) has really been rock solid for Boston the last three seasons. Lester is on pace to throw over 200 innings for the third straight year, while batters are only have a .226 batting average against him. The left hander is coming off a poor last start in Toronto where Lester only lasted two inning and allowed nine earned runs. Tampa will send out a workhorse of their own in former number one pick David Price (15-5, 2.97 ERA). Price hasn’t disappointed the Rays brass in the least bit since 2007, the Vandy grad currently sits second in the AL in wins and ranks fourth in ERA. The 25 year old is 7-1 with a 2.11 ERA in 11 starts at Tropicana Field this season including a Tampa 6-4 win over Boston where Price struck out 10 in 7 2/3 innings. A player to keep an eye is Rays CF B.J. Upton (.236/12/45), Upton’s struggled most of the year but in the month of August is batting
